Introduction

Pakistani-Americans are a significant source of remittances to Pakistan. Since the scheme measures everything in US dollars, the rule is especially easy to follow from the US: the account in Pakistan needs a remittance of at least USD 100 each month of the quarter.

Remittance context from the USA

The United States falls in the North America region together with Canada, which receives 10% of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes. Recipients also compete for the First Prize, which is open to all regions.

Eligibility explained for families of United States-based Pakistanis

The rules are the same for every country. The person in Pakistan becomes eligible for a quarter’s draw when their account receives a home remittance worth at least USD 100 in each of the three months of that quarter. No UAE-, Gulf- or country-specific rules have been published.

In USD: Good news: the threshold is already in your currency — at least USD 100 must be credited each month. Provider fees can reduce the credited amount, so send a little more if you are close to the line.

  • Credited directly into a personal account or participating wallet in Pakistan (single or joint)
  • Account at a participating bank
  • Pakistani-rupee account — not a Roshan Digital or foreign-currency account
  • Free and automatic — no registration, ticket or fee

Formal remittance channels in the USA

In the US, remittance companies operate under state money transmitter licences and register with FinCEN; banks also send international wires. For Pasban, choose delivery directly into the recipient’s Pakistani bank account or participating wallet.

  • Cash pickup at a partner location does not count.
  • The recipient’s account should be a personal Pakistani-rupee account.

Licensed providers in the USA are supervised by state financial regulators (money transmitter licences) and FinCEN registration. This website does not recommend specific providers.

Practical tips

The large time difference matters near month-end: a transfer you send on the evening of the last day in the US may be processed in Pakistan the next month. Send a few days early so it lands in the month you intend.

Pakistan is 9–10 hours ahead of US Eastern Time and 12–13 hours ahead of Pacific Time. The scheme counts a remittance in the month it is processed in Pakistan.

Don’t “structure” transfersThe official terms warn that splitting or timing transfers purely to generate tokens may be treated as ineligible. Send what your family genuinely needs.

Regional prize allocation

Remittances from the USA are in the North America region. Per draw, that region’s pool includes 2 second prizes (PKR 25M), 10 third prizes (PKR 10M) and 238 fourth prizes (PKR 1M), according to the official terms for the first two draws. The PKR 100 million First Prize is drawn from all regions together.
