Overview
The Pasban Remittance Reward Scheme (the 1LINK materials call it the Pasban Remittance Rewards Scheme, or PRRS) is a quarterly prize scheme for people in Pakistan who receive money from relatives and others abroad. When a home remittance arrives through a formal channel and is credited into an eligible personal account, it can earn digital draw tokens. Every quarter, 2,521 cash prizes worth a combined PKR 4 billion are drawn — PKR 16 billion a year.
There is nothing to buy and nothing to sign up for. Tokens are created automatically from data banks already report, and the scheme is funded by banks rather than the government.
Who runs the scheme
| Organisation | Role |
|---|---|
| State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) | Patron; member of the steering committee. The Governor inaugurated the scheme on 25 September 2026. |
| Pakistan Banks’ Association (PBA) | Launched and administers the scheme on behalf of the banking industry. |
| Participating banks | Fund the prizes, report remittance data, verify winners and pay prizes. |
| 1LINK | SBP-licensed payment system operator; records eligible remittances, issues tokens and runs the draws. |
A steering committee made up of the participating banks, PBA, 1LINK and SBP governs the scheme and can change its rules for future quarters.
Why it exists
Remittances are a major source of foreign exchange for Pakistan and a lifeline for millions of households. Money sent through informal channels (such as hundi/hawala) bypasses the banking system. The scheme adds an incentive for families to receive money through banks, exchange companies and licensed money transfer operators instead. According to news coverage of the launch, the banking industry has also been funding a separate incentive for remitters since July 2026.
Pasban builds on the systems used for the earlier Sohni Dharti Remittance Programme, which has been discontinued. It is a separate initiative: points or rewards earned under Sohni Dharti do not carry over.
How it works in brief
- Someone abroad sends money home through a formal channel.
- It is credited in rupees directly into the beneficiary’s personal account or wallet at a participating bank.
- If that account receives a remittance of at least USD 100 in each month of the quarter, its qualifying remittances earn tokens — one per USD 100, rounded to the nearest USD 100.
- Tokens enter that quarter’s automated draw. Winners are verified and paid by their own bank.

What the scheme is not
- Not a lottery or investment. Tokens have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold or transferred.
- Not a reward for senders. The person abroad does not receive tokens or prizes.
- Not a reason to change how you send. The official terms warn that transactions apparently structured to generate tokens may be treated as ineligible.
- Not a deduction. No fee is taken from any remittance because of the scheme.
